Dr. Graciela Figueroa (aka Dr. Fig) was born in Virginia but spent most of her childhood a Michigander. Schoolcraft, Michigan was her home for 13 years before venturing her way down to Winter Park, Florida in 2015 to begin her undergraduate studies in Marine Biology at Rollins College.
Throughout her undergraduate career, Dr. Fig spent time working as a veterinary assistant at a few local small animal clinics in both Florida and Michigan. She also completed an internship at SeaWorld Orlando where she was able to shadow some of the veterinarians there at that time.
Dr. Fig obtained her doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2024 from the University of Florida. During her time there, she completed externships at Orchid Springs Animal Hospital, NAVE Veterinary Group (Las Vegas, Nevada), and VetsGoWild (South Africa). She served as Historian on her class’s executive board for all 4 years. Dr. Fig also dedicated her time encouraging the next generation of veterinarians by serving as a Minority Health Professions Mentor and a Gator Vet Camp counselor.
Dr. Fig has always had a love for all of God’s creatures. Her passion for animals, people, and medicine are what led her to become a veterinarian. She looks forward to being able to aid in strengthening the human-animal bond through her work as a veterinarian. Dr. Fig takes a special interest in veterinary acupuncture and plans to become certified within the next few years.
Outside of the clinic, Dr. Fig shares her life with her partner, Alexander, and their pitbull Stella (pictured above). They enjoy spending their free time together traveling, hiking, kayaking, and being around any body of water. Dr. Fig also enjoys reading, baking, and spending time with her family and friends.
